You know, I've always found the concept of 'About' sections to be a little bit strange... after all, it's not about me, is it? It's about you. You are the reason I do this. Maybe there should be an 'About You' section...?

Well, I began life way back when the world was young and all this was green fields and...
But you don't want to hear that, do you?!
Actually, I was a gigging musician and part-time stagehand/sound engineer for most of my misspent youth in the UK, misspending a lot of time in venues and recording studios 'honing my skills' as they say.
From there I somehow found my way into the wonderful world of English teaching, ending up specialising in business English and the art of conversation. Living in the Czech Republic also made proofreading a necessary skill, and from there I fell into translation.
Being an English teacher and self-confessed
studio rat, voice over just came naturally.
That's when I was approached by a lot of corporate video producers in need of narration (Pilsen is a hub of business innovation) and educators in need of e-Learning materials, as well as tourist destinations wanting to upgrade their audio guides, interactive boards and museum tours.
When the pandemic hit in 2020 and all the studios closed, I already had a substantial recording set-up for music, so it wasn't too much of a leap to build an acoustically treated booth and join the rest of the world in recording voice over from home.
My home studio has already been approved by the likes of Voquent and Bodalgo and I'm always improving and refining it (sometimes I just can't leave things be!). The booth is also connected for online meetings and live directed recording sessions via Google Meet, Zoom, etc., so it doesn't matter where in the world you are - location is no longer an issue in today's hyper-connected world!
These days I am able to get most jobs completed
and returned to the client within 24 hours
(if it's possible!).
